Frequently Asked Questions

Q) Where are lessons held?
A) We currently hold classes at East High School (5011 Mayhew Ave.), West High School (2001 Cassselman St.) and North High School (4200 Cheyenne Blvd.) in Sioux City.. A map with detailed instructions will be provided upon booking.

Q) How long are lessons?
A) Classes last 30-45 minutes, depending on the your child's skill level. Classes meet twice a week, either Monday-Wednesday or Tuesday-Thursday for 4 weeks. This gives children consistent instruction eight lessons at a time.

Q) How much does it cost?
A) Each 4 week session costs $44 for 30 minutes classes or $64 for 45 minute classes for a single child. With 2 children enrolled, the prices are $40 or $60 respectively per child. Three or more enrolled children pay $36 and $60 respectively per child. There is also a one-time family registration fee of $15 upon entrance into Siouxland Aquatics. We also offer specialty classes and private lessons which vary in price. Some of these include: water fitness and synchronized swimming -- all of which are taught on demand.

Q) How many kids are in each class?
A) Siouxland Aquatics offers semi-private lessons which consist of 4 or fewer students per teacher in any introductory or pre-school level classes (30 minutes each) and advanced classes (45 minutes) which have 6 or fewer students per teacher.

Q) How do I make-up a class if we have a conflict?
A) Since we have classes running most of the day, we can simply find an alternative time for your child to swim if you have a conflict. Missed lessons, however, must be made-up within 30 days.

Q) Do you have lessons year-round?
A) We are in operation 11 months per year, as we swim in an indoor facility. The month of December is the only one we take off, due to the holidays.

Q) How do you group the students?
A) All Siouxland Aquatic students are grouped according to ability, not by age. We assess students at a free trial lesson to ensure they are placed in the appropriate groups. Our staff monitors the progress of each student so that he or she may change classes when ready. We do not wait until the beginning of a new session to promote children to the next level -- it may be done mid-month.
